Privacy Policy
Last reviewed: August 2026
Nissi Community Care, a business of Nissi Home Care Au Pty Ltd (ABN 33 675 632 729), is committed to protecting the privacy of the children, young people, participants, families and staff we work with. This policy explains how we handle personal and health information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the NDIS Practice Standards.
What information we collect
We only collect information we need to deliver safe, high-quality support. This may include:
- Name, date of birth, address and contact details
- NDIS participant number, plan details and funding arrangements
- Health information, including diagnoses, medications, behaviour support plans and allied health reports
- Cultural background, language and communication needs, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identification where you choose to share it
- Family, guardianship, child protection and court information relevant to our duty of care
- Records of the supports we deliver, incidents, complaints and feedback
- Employment and screening information for staff and carers, including NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Checks
How we collect it
Wherever possible we collect information directly from you — in conversation, through intake and service agreement forms, by phone or email, or through the enquiry form on this website. We may also receive information from the NDIA, plan managers and support coordinators, government agencies including child protection, treating health practitioners, and family members or guardians acting on your behalf.
How we use it
We use your information to plan and deliver your supports, to keep you and our staff safe, to claim payment for services, to meet our reporting obligations to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and other regulators, and to improve our services. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.
Who we share it with
We share information only with your consent, or where the law requires or permits it. That may include the NDIA, plan managers and support coordinators, treating practitioners and allied health providers, other services involved in your care, emergency services, and regulators such as the NDIS Commission. Where there is a risk of harm to a child or another person, we will report it as the law requires — including our mandatory reporting obligations in Western Australia.
How we store and protect it
Records are held in secure, access-controlled electronic systems with access limited to staff who need it for their role. Paper records are kept in locked storage. Staff are trained in privacy and confidentiality and sign a confidentiality agreement. We keep records for the periods required by law — generally seven years, or until a child turns 25 where the record relates to a child — and then destroy them securely. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Contact us on 0488 783 909 or at admin@nissicommunitycare.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. We can provide information in an accessible format, in your language, or through an advocate or interpreter — just ask.
This website
Our enquiry form opens a message in your own email application — the details you enter are sent from your email account directly to us, and are not stored on this website. We do not use this site to build profiles of visitors or to advertise to you.
Concerns about privacy
If you think we have mishandled your information, please tell us first — see our complaints and feedback process. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992 or at oaic.gov.au, or the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544.
